“The healing of the land and the purification
of the human spirit is the same process.”
Masanobu Fukuoka

Ecotourism
Tourism is an important, even vital, source of income for many Kashmiri Families.

The aim of ecotourism is to reduce the negative impact that tourism may have on natural environments.

Any tourist destination can be harmed by increased levels of tourism. If areas are damaged or destroyed, they might not be available to future generations.

Ecotourism encourages visitors to a country to leave a small carbon footprint, to the benefit of local communities and environments. Ecotourism promotes sustainable development.

With the aim of regeneration of the natural environment, we are looking into the ways
to promote and encourage ecotourism in the valley through education, involving local authorities, tourist trade businesses (e.g. Houseboat owners, Shikara owners, Hoteliers) and local communities living on the edge of the lake.
